【地产新闻】梅西隧道项目确定承包商,建设工作即将启动

令人期待已久的梅西隧道终于传来了新消息。不久的将来,我们将告别那条拥堵不堪的旧隧道。BC省政府宣布,已选定“Cross Fraser Partnership”作为新梅西隧道的承包商。由法国建筑巨头布依格建筑公司领衔,他们曾是建造全长50公里连接法国和英国英吉利海峡隧道的主力军。

交通部长罗伯·弗莱明(Rob Fleming)兴奋地表示:“这是一个巨大的进步。有了这支队伍,我们可以最终确定项目设计,为施工做好准备,帮助改善列治文和Delta之间99号公路的通行状况。”

新隧道将采用沉管隧道技术,工人们会在岸上预制混凝土隧道段,然后将它们沉入河底预先挖好的沟槽中,再用回填材料和岩石将其掩埋,以保护隧道结构。新隧道将设有八条车道,每个方向四条,其中包括一条专用公交车道,还将有一个专门供行人和骑自行车者使用的通道,比现有的四车道隧道宽敞得多。

项目完工后,车辆平均速度有望从现在的每小时30公里提高到80公里。这对Delta的居民来说无疑是一个振奋人心的好消息。不过,环境评估工作仍在进行,主要建设预计要到2026年才能开始。如果一切顺利,新隧道预计将在2030年完工,届时目前这条1959年建造的老隧道将光荣退休。

虽然等待时间较长,但考虑到未来的交通便利,这一切都是值得的。省长尹大卫(David Eby)表示,该项目是他争取联邦政府资金支持的“首要交通基础设施优先事项”。虽然目前还未公布最终造价,但2021年的估计为41.5亿加元。考虑到近年来的全球通货膨胀,最终造价可能会上涨。
